There are a wide range of markets and fairs that are held in the surrounding areas throughout the year.

Ballinlough Country Fair

For those interested in country life and activities the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair is a must see if you have the good fortune to be staying at Loughstown Holiday Village. It takes place on the weekend of Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2011 at Ballinlough Castle just a few miles away. The fair showcases the varied aspects of country sports, rural life and traditions in a fun and interesting way with lots of stands and food stalls.

The “Drakes of Hazard” feature Indian runner ducks being herded by working sheepdogs. All the way from Loch Lomond in Scotland, working shepherd, Mark Wylie's commentary as his ducks go through their paces is humorous in the extreme!

Making their first appearance in Ireland are a professional stunt team called “The Medieval Legends” who have featured in many films and television documentaries. Their horses are real, their armour and lances are real and their falls are real too! There are also Birds of Prey displays, Vintage farm machinery, carriage driving exhibits and pony club games to name but a few. The two day event also features live music
